2019 Champions League Deploys FOR-A FT-ONE-SS4K Super Slow-Motion Cameras During Final Match

During the 2019 Champions League final in Madrid, several FOR-A Ultra High-Speed FT-ONE-SS4K cameras were utilized for critical slow motion replays as part of the live broadcast. The same camera will be on display within the FOR-A booth (Hall 2, Stand A51) during IBC 2019 at the RAI Amsterdam this week. The FT-ONE-SS4K will be demonstrated with the ZE-ONE 4K zoom extractor during IBC.

Specially designed for live, instant replay in ultra-slow motion, the FOR-A® FT-ONE-SS4K supports UHD shot at up to 1000 frames per second. It provides a continual, real-time 4K live output. A native 2/3-inch image sensor enables the use of a B4 bayonet broadcast lens directly on the camera. With a 2.5 stop light advantage over previous generations of super slow-motion cameras, the FT-ONE-SS4K offers higher frame rate image capture than was possible before. It supports HDR/SDR and WCG. The camera also features 24 axis color correction. Canon’s OLED viewfinder is compatible with the FT-ONE-SS4K and can be used as an option. Flicker Correction is also available as an option. FT-ONE-SS4K camera systems have been used during many high-profile live sports events from all over the world.

The ZE-ONE 4K extraction system allows FT-ONE-SS4K users to frame and extract desired 4K image areas to capture the action for HD replays. The system provides operators with an intuitive touch-screen interface to frame and extract specified HD scenes at any size from 4K sources. The ZE-ONE allows operators to smoothly zoom in or out and includes an embedded audio delay processor.

V-Nova Partners with Simplestream for New Pan-African Streaming Service MVMO

Partnering with next-generation OTT TV pioneer Simplestream, the service will combine the high-efficiency V-Nova P+ codec-agnostic enhancement and easy-to-deploy Simplestream streaming platform to deliver a wide range of high-quality content to audiences throughout the continent.

P+ supports the upcoming MPEG-5 Part 2 LCEVC compression standard, which means that MVMO will be one of the first platforms to deploy it. With MVMO, it will be possible to watch video anywhere there is a phone signal, which has huge potential as the demand for streamed content grows across Africa.

MVMO (Movies, Video, Music, Opportunity), is a distribution platform developed in association with the Creative Africa Exchange (CAX), a marketplace for the creative and cultural industry, sponsored by Afreximbank. MVMO is set to help consolidate the burgeoning demand for high-quality streaming content in Africa. Tiger Technology showcases collaborative storage and workflows at IBC 2019

Tiger Technology, a leader in cloud storage and data management for the broadcast and post-production markets, will use this year’s IBC to demonstrate its products leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS). These systems are designed to help customers migrate legacy archive content from older tape systems onto cloud or hybrid cloud systems, with the goal of lowering archival costs and increasing accessibility. Tiger systems integrate with Media Translation tape-to-cloud solutions to manage the migration, as well as with Spectra Logic and Qualstar archiving and backup systems. Nevion-led consortium receives 2 million euro EU funding for 5G broadcast remote production project

Nevion, award-winning provider of virtualized media production solutions, announced today that a mobile-5G remote production project by a consortium it is leading has received a grant of €2 million from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program ‘Fast Track to Innovation’. Project “VIRTUOSA” was selected as the best proposal of a highly competitive call with 225 applications.

The winning consortium comprises four international leading industry players with complementary competences and a common goal to bring 5G (the Fifth Generation of Cellular Network Technology) Broadcast Remote Production solutions to market: Nevion AS (Norway), Mellanox Technologies LTD (Israel), LOGIC media solutions GmbH (Germany) and IRT – Institute for Broadcasting Technology (Germany).

The purpose of the EU project VIRTUOSA is to explore “Scalable Software Defined Network Architectures for Cooperative Live Media Production exploiting Virtualized Production Resources and 5G Wireless Acquisition”. In practical terms, this means demonstrating through real-life examples how 5G can be combined with virtualization concepts to enable broadcasters to produce live content (such as sports or music coverage) more efficiently and cost-effectively across locations, to meet growing consumer demand.
