58 Seconds is one of the 10 outstanding new series projects selected this year to participate in this section of the Berlinale Series Market, a pitching session where producers present their latest projects in search of suitable co-producers, financiers and broadcast partners.
58 Seconds is a front-line drama revolving around the stories of today’s real-life superheroes. A group of humanitarian relief workers – medics, administrators and care-workers – who volunteer to go to the world’s most dangerous and challenging places, working thousands of miles away from home and enduring natural disasters, war zones and political conflicts. The characters confront nearly unimaginable challenges with humour, determination and courage. The doctors and their teams form resilient bonds, fall in love, and grow – both as medical professionals and human beings.
“At THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO, we are proud to be able to present 58 Seconds in this forum and to do it together with our BlackBox Multimedia partners with whom we have developed this project, beautifully written by Jeremy Brock and Paul Unwin, which we hope will captivate the interest of the market”, said Stephen Johnstone, Head of Content, THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO UK.
“We thank Berlinale for the opportunity of pitching 58 Seconds here and see the first reactions of the market to a series that brings a new style of drama. It is a story of universal scope, appealing to a wide international audience, in line with the drama productions that we develop at THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO”, said Marta Ezpeleta, Director of The Mediapro Distribution.
Giuliano Papadia, CEO of BlackBox Multimedia adds “Berlinale is the perfect way to introduce 58 Seconds to the market. It’s a thrilling drama with a strong emotional heart, and we’re confident audiences will fall in love with the characters Paul and Jeremy have created. 58 Seconds marries the thrill and pace of the best medical shows with the emotional intensity, the moral dilemmas and the strength of relationships which constitute the beating heart of great character-led pieces. It’s been a fantastic partnership with the creators and THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO so far and we’re looking forward to the next steps.”
