Just Add Power (J+P), a leader in Ultra HD over IP video distribution, announced today that the company has expanded its Just OS firmware ecosystem with the addition of the Instant Install application. Making its debut in booth 1817 at CEDIA Expo 2019, the application provides fast auto configuration for any gigabit switch.
With the Instant Install app, installers can easily incorporate any gigabit switch that supports jumbo frames — managed or not — into their J+P matrix. They simply connect their devices anywhere on the switch and click a single button, and their devices are found and configured, and a driver is built — all in less than two minutes.
“Installers have been asking for an app that would take the guesswork out of any project, and we’re proud to announce that it’s here,” said Taft Stricklin, sales team manager for J+P. “With the Instant Install app, one click is all that’s needed to configure all the devices connected to the gigabit switch. A few lucky integrators have already seen it in action, and they’ve been blown away by its speed and reliability.”
In addition to the Instant Install app, the Just OS ecosystem comprises J+P’s Plug-Play-Present logic control for intuitive and reliable connection and switching of sources; the Switch Please web application for matrix switching of any J+P device from any web browser; and the Every Switch Supported firmware, which allows integrators to build any size 4K matrix on an existing network without having to change switches.

Anton/Bauer today introduced the DIONIC® 26V series of cinema batteries. Developed for cinematographers, rental houses, and content creators, these 26V Li-ion batteries offer up to 240 watt-hours of reliable, safe, and efficient power for higher-power-draw cinematic cameras and LED lights. Featuring Anton/Bauer’s new Gold Mount® Plus mount, the DIONIC 26V range includes 98-watt-hour and 240-watt-hour batteries, as well as a quad charger, a quad discharger, and a range of mounting plates for connecting to industry-leading cameras and LED lighting fixtures.
The DIONIC 26V series has been designed to drive high-power cinematic cameras such as the ARRI Alexa LF, SXT, and 65, and will also support mobile power for popular LED panels, including Litepanels’ Gemini Soft panels and ARRI’s SkyPanel series. With their lighter weight and more compact form factor, the DIONIC 26V batteries offer greater mobility for camera operators and more versatility for LED placement over tethered power sources such as AC or block-style batteries. DIONIC 26V batteries can be used as a hot-swappable backup power solution for gear that is using AC power, such as VCLX block-style batteries, eliminating the need to power down cameras or LEDs to change power sources.
The DIONIC 26V charger offers rapid charging for both 14.4V and 26V batteries — charging the 98-watt-hour in around 1.5 hours and the 240-watt-hour in around 3.5 hours — a sharp contrast to competing dual-voltage or hybrid batteries that require as much as two to three times this amount of charge time. The DIONIC 26V series also offers a dual-bracket solution that enables up to 480 watt-hours of power (combining two DIONIC 26V 240 batteries), delivering many hours of untethered lighting power for LED panels.
Like the other batteries in the Anton/Bauer DIONIC product family, the DIONIC 26V series features ultra-high-strength ABS polycarbonate blend construction that protects the battery and ensures peak performance even in the most demanding conditions — including extreme heat, humidity, and cold. The battery’s native 26V configuration balances cell usage and reduces the number of circuit boards packed on top of the cells for reduced heat and maximum cycle life. As a result, the batteries can be recharged many more times than other batteries for superior return on investment.
The DIONIC 26V’s built-in LCD indicator gives users the confidence to know, down to the minute, the exact runtime and remaining available power for the camera and accessories being powered. In addition, the DIONIC 26V series introduces an all-new Gold Mount Plus mount that not only ensures a durable and secure battery connection, but also prevents users from connecting a 26V battery directly to a 14.4V camera or accessory. The DIONIC 26V 98 watt-hour battery is IATA-certified, making it easier to pack, carry, and transport on an airplane than tethered, block-style batteries.
“As the newest addition to our highly popular DIONIC family, which includes the award-winning VCLX and Dionic XT, our new DIONIC 26V series expands Anton/Bauer’s outstanding reputation for delivering reliable and versatile mobile power for demanding cinematic productions. Our rental partners are now able to provide a single solution for customers to power their entire shoot, including power-intensive LED lights and high-end cine cameras,” said Chris Gaughan, Anton/Bauer product manager. “The DIONIC 26V series is a perfect example of Anton/Bauer’s continued commitment to engineer and deliver effective solutions that meet the workflow requirements of cinematographers around the world.”
OConnor today introduced a camera support system that pairs the all-new Ultimate 1040 fluid head with the multi-award-winning flowtech100 tripod. This exclusive system combines the world-renowned precision and versatility of OConnor’s fluid heads with the unique speed of flowtech’s carbon-fiber tripod technology, allowing professional camera operators to move from heavier to lighter payload camera setups quickly and without compromise.
Now fitted with OConnor’s popular large Euro Plate as standard, the Ultimate 1040 allows for greater head capacity than its 1030 predecessor, bringing the maximum payload at 5 inches center of gravity from 35 pounds up to 45 pounds (20 kilograms) while retaining the same performance and ergonomic features found in the signature 1030.
The Ultimate 1040 is made of high-performance magnesium and aluminum alloys with stainless steel, and the head is finished with genuine carbon fiber to match the modern, sleek look of the flowtech100 tripod. The head also features the same construction found in larger OConnor heads, including wide tilt bearings for extra stability even at the highest payloads.
OConnor’s Ultimate 1040 head offers a wealth of features including the stepless, ultra-smooth pan-and-tilt fluid drag specifically enhanced to provide ultimate control and stability, as well as the patented OConnor Sinusoidal Counterbalance system that provides true, accurate balance at any point in the tilt range. Operators will appreciate that the system counterbalances down to zero, a welcome advantage given the trend to lighter-weight cameras.
“Featuring the widest payload in its class, our Ultimate 1040 fluid head can now accommodate a payload of up to 45 pounds and is built to deliver consistent results on even the most demanding sets,” said Steve Turner, product manager, OConnor. “Combining the new Ultimate 1040 with flowtech means camera operators can pan and tilt a camera on set with the pinpoint precision of larger film fluid heads and with the speed and agility of run-and-gun crews. And most important, the OConnor ‘Feel the difference’ ultra-smooth movement remains the same, regardless of payload.”
Featuring the world’s fastest-deploying legs, the flowtech100 tripod provides cinematographers with an incredibly fast, lightweight, and easy-to-setup camera support system. Revolutionary quick-release brakes allow the tripod’s legs to be deployed instantly and simultaneously, and they adjust automatically to the ground’s surface — saving operators from having to bend over and manually adjust multiple brakes on each leg. The tripod’s versatile hinge-lock mechanism combined with its durable rubber feet allow for the capture of extremely low and high shots, regardless of space limitations or terrain. Exceptional torsional stiffness also ensures the flowtech100 will not twist during camera-panning movements.
Cinematographers and camera operators will have the opportunity to experience OConnor’s innovative system for the first time at IBC2019 in Amsterdam at Stand 12.E65.
As the technical provider of RTL TVI, BCE is responsible for broadcasting RTL TVI, CLUB RTL and PLUG TV channels from Luxembourg. Providing many services for the company, BCE was looking for a solution to automate the production process of the customer’s trailers.
BCE turned to the Automate-IT solution developed by the publisher Embrace, which went into production in early summer 2019.
Automate-IT automates the process of packaging, generating and delivering trailers by aggregating data and media. As a result, the users can avoid any non-creative tasks, produce more for broadcast or social networks and always in perfect compliance with the graphical chart of their company.
“With an increasing volume of trailers, it was critical for BCE to find an intuitive solution, allowing the automation of the production workflow. The Automate-IT solution perfectly meets this need and integrates particularly well into our private cloud hosted in Luxembourg” explains Frédéric Fievez, Projects Development Director at BCE.
The Automate-IT platform is focused on three features:
A simple creative process for the production and validation of trailers through HTML panels accessible from any PC at BCE, including for the most sophisticated channel branding.
API-controlled Adobe® After Effects and Media Encoder solutions that are used daily by the on-air promo team.
A workflow engine that integrates and adapts easily to BCE’s editorial and technical contexts. In addition, the platform allows a secured connection with the business information and management systems.
These points fostered the integration of the solution into BCE’s production workflow and its adoption by the operational teams. At the launch of the service, BCE automatically produces more than 200 trailers per week for RTL TVI and about 25 per week for PLUG TV already.
“We are particularly proud to have had the opportunity to participate in a project with BCE whose DNA, for almost a century, has been marked by technological innovation and operational excellence”. Concludes Julien Gachot, CEO at Embrace.
For more information on the Automate-IT solution and the project with RTL TVI, meet us at the IBC on BCE booth (Hall 7, Stand 7.C37) and Embrace booth (Hall 6, Stand 6.C26).
The Van on display at their outdoor stand (O.E02) is a perfect example of a platform that easily can be tailored for different mobile production purposes and is based on a Mercedes Sprinter.
At the show, Broadcast Solutions showcases it primarily as a wireless transmission hub vehicle powered by Silvus Technologies IP Mesh radios. New to the outstanding wireless radios from Silvus is the new enhanced E-series of radios which will be on display.
With roots in US military communications research, Silvus’ StreamCaster radios were developed to handle the most challenging military operations on earth. Now, this technology is rapidly adopted by Broadcasters around the world. This cutting-edge wireless transmission technology ensures bi-directional communication, data and video transfer even under the harshest condition. The Mobile Networked MIMO technology enables stable connections between multiple sites, even under non-line-of-site conditions where other wireless technologies fail.
To be as flexible and independent as possible when being in the field or on the road, played a crucial role in the development of the concept vehicle. Equipped with a large battery bank, the Van can operate independent and silent for up to 20 hours.
The Broadcast Solutions Concept Van design can be adapted to the customers’ needs and then materialise in different versions serving the intended purpose. Depending on the final fit-out it can serve as a wireless hub for news, sports and events, a VAR / edit / replay vehicle or a command and control centre for security and surveillance purposes.
