TVU Networks to Intro Multi-Cam Production Solution Enabling Audience Participation with Video

At the upcoming IBC (International Broadcasting Convention) in September, TVU Networks, the global leader in live IP solutions, will introduce the completely cloud-based TVU Talkshow – the first all-in-one solution for multi-camera production that enables audience participation with video. TVU Networks will introduce the TVU Talkshow solution and its full line of products and services for live video content workflow at the RAI Conference Center in Hall 2, Stand B28 during IBC.

Real-time Audience Engagement with Video

TVU Talkshow supports bi-directional audience participation, enabling fans to engage with an event or hosted show in real-time. An unlimited number of participants can video call in using the TVU Talkshow app on their mobile phone. TVU Talkshow’s integrated caller management system enables producers to pre-screen all callers. TVU Talkshow also supports IFB management to ensure effective and seamless communication whether it’s hosts interacting with callers or the producers, production crew and camera operators coordinating with each other.

Simultaneous Multi-Platform Delivery and Professional Graphics Support

As the solution is based entirely in the cloud, there is no wiring required and operation is simplified with one, centralized GUI that can be operated from a web browser. TVU Talkshow can simultaneously deliver live content to multiple destinations , such as social media platform like Facebook Live or YouTube Live, the CDN or web page of your choice, and over 3000 major TV stations globally on TVU Grid, as well as traditional SDI output through a TVU receiver.

Furthermore, TVU Talkshow is an open platform which enables third party providing their services by integrating them through TVU Open API. The integration with cloud-based Singular.live IP graphics platform, provides advanced real-time graphics overlay capabilities to Producer’s live production environment from any location.

“There’s nothing like TVU Talkshow on the market right now,” said David Jorba, Executive Vice President, Managing Director Europe, TVU Networks. “It’s the first cloud-based multi-camera production solution to support and manage unlimited live audience participation with video.”

“TVU Talkshow was designed to be a highly flexible all-in-one solution, with modular video production components. Combining a number of patented technologies, such as frame accurate synchronization technology, TVU Talkshow enables producers to do a broadcast quality live production accessing TVU’s cloud-based platform from anywhere, with maximum scalability and an efficient pay-for-what-you-use business model.”

Embedded with H.265 encoding and patented IS+ transmission algorithm, fans can send live Full HD video from anywhere using their smartphone – be it a crowded stadium, mountain range overseas or even a fast-moving vehicle – to the studio and contribute to the conversation live.

“By incorporating lower cost and proven remote and studio applications, we’re enabling broadcasters to extend their reach to niche markets by producing live shows and events with the frequency and resolution previously reserved for much larger productions,” added Jorba.

Proven for Live Programming

Examples of recent TVU Talkshow use already include Fox Noire in the US and Sky Sports’ the Football Social in Europe. The Sky Sports’ live talk show, Football Social, streamed on youtube and Facebook reached more than 17 million online views for the 2018/2019 Premier League season using the bi-directional remote audience participation feature from TVU Talkshow. Fox Noire, a new streaming channel focused on the African American experience in Los Angeles, is also an early user.

The cloud-based TVU Producer allows producers to make quick cuts, insert graphic overlays, switch between multiple sources, manage audio, compile highlights and instant replays, capture slow-motion clips, and push finalized content to TV and the Internet. Visual radio producers have discovered the benefits of the easy-to-use TVU Producer for the creation of cost-efficient live production that can be immediately streamed to online platforms. The non-profit group, the AIMS Foundation, has used TVU Producer to live stream two classical music concerts on Facebook and Youtube to increase awareness of the foundation.

TVU Remote Production System (RPS) enables synchronized multi-camera remote production using a broadcaster’s existing studio control room and a public Internet connection from the field. Up to six camera feeds are automatically synchronized and  transmitted from a remote location back to the studio over IP, reducing the need for on-site production trucks or large crews. Al Kamel Systems, a leading motor sports live stats broadcast production specialist, uses TVU RPS to add racing graphics from remote sites. The 2019 World Roller Games held in Barcelona, Spain, used TVU RPS to broadcast from various remote locations in five cities. Six synchronized signals were sent to La Xarxa for distribution.

World Roller Games Chooses TVU Networks for Coverage of Intense 11-Day Competition

TVU Networks has announced its involvement in the broadcast of the world’s largest event for roller sports, the 2019 World Roller Games in Barcelona, Spain.

This year, The World Roller Games boasted 11 different disciplines including inline freestyle, rink hockey, roller derby, skateboarding and more. Over 4000 athletes participated representing 81 countries from all over the globe, as well as over 140,000 visitors.

The companies producing the World Roller Games were in search of an efficient and reliable way to broadcast from multiple remote locations throughout five cities. The organizers also wanted to find an innovative way to cover the diverse array of sports represented in the competition from the various types of venues in which the games would be held.

Ultimately, the producers of the event turned to TVU Networks. They deployed 14 TVU One transmitters, some of which were connected to OB vans at venues and the rest of which were mobile. Feeds were synchronized using TVU Timelock and sent to the Technical Operations Center, where producers could insert graphics, create highlights and then distribute streaming video worldwide with TVU Servers. Six synchronized signals were sent to La Xarxa for distribution using one TVU Remote Production System (RPS) unit. TVU also provided the World Roller Games with a full duplex VOIP channel which is integrated with all TVU One devices so that people at the venues could communicate with those in the Technical Operations Center.

“TVU offered incredibly flexible solutions as well as a wide range of equipment to use for everything from transmission to remote production” said Javier Grima, Executive Producer of the World Roller Games 2019. “We were able to capture, produce and distribute the live broadcast at a cheaper cost than traditional satellite and fibre solutions without sacrificing quality. The technology was so advanced that it made operations easier and more efficient than before.”

TVU_One_World_Roller_GamesThese TVU products and solutions performed flawlessly, despite less-than-ideal circumstances. The speed marathon final, which ran a course of 42,195 meters, was broadcast from the streets of Barcelona from a motorbike. TVU One was able to transmit high-quality, low-latency HD video while on the move over a significant distance for the complete duration of the race. Additionally, the beachside location of the speed road competition track made it difficult to get a strong connection. Regardless, transmission from the site was smooth, with minimal sub-second delay.

“We’re honored to have helped broadcast the 2019 World Roller Games,” said David Jorba, TVU Networks’ EVP, Managing Director of Europe. “The uninterrupted high-quality coverage across the 14 different venues was further testament to the unparalleled performance of our solutions in challenging environments and network conditions.”

All TVU Networks solutions utilize HEVC/H.265 compression standard to optimize data use and generate less overhead, leading to lower operational costs while delivering even greater transmission reliability. TVU One’s award-winning mobile IP video transmitter is a breakthrough in size and performance, allowing up to 4K60fps HDR live transmissions at bit-rates as low as 3Mbps. TVU Timelock and TVU RPS are a reference in the industry for remote, multi-camera production, offering unmatched synchronization and wireless capabilities over a standard internet connection.

TVU Networks to Introduce Updates to Media Supply Chain Platform

TVU Networks will demonstrate the newest product updates for TVU MediaMind, its media supply chain platform, in the company’s booth (#C1707) at the annual NAB Show in April. TVU MediaMind’s story-centric workflow approach simplifies content creation, production and distribution while incorporating the latest integration and support for automation, AI, streaming, 4K and 5G.

“With the many, different ways media content is consumed today by viewers, broadcasters can no longer acquire, produce and distribute media for just TV. In fact, the way programs are created must completely change,” said Paul Shen, CEO, TVU Networks. “By automating and optimizing the media supply chain process, broadcasters can realize the benefits of taking raw content and re-using it across many platforms, programs and even organizations. TVU MediaMind allows anyone to create stories, wherever and however they want efficiently, effectively and without limits.”

TVU_One_032019For example, within content acquisition, the company will showcase a new 4K version of its TVU One mobile transmitter, which is the first cellular mobile unit with the ability to transmit Ultra-HD/4Kp60 HEVC content. “UHD/4Kp60 is a much more technically challenging resolution to achieve in a cellular mobile unit,” explained Shen. “However, using our patented IS+ transmission algorithm and advanced FEC technology, we were able to overcome these challenges and transmit video in full UHD/4K at 60 frames per second.”

Added Shen, “The TVU One 4K and our entire family of portable and rack-mount transmitters are also now 5G ready.”
